About 15 years ago, I was still a student. I was actually an intern in chiropractic school. Doing rounds in the student clinic, I actually meet a woman who said, “Chiropractic saved her life.” So, I asked her, “What do you mean?” She said, “Well, when I first came here, I was suffering from severe, debilitating migraine headaches.” She said, “I went into the clinician’s office, I took out three bottles of pills and put them on the counter and I said, “This morning I was gonna take every pill in these bottles and I was gonna kill myself.” But a friend of mine convinced me not to do it and to try chiropractic. But what I’m gonna do is carry these pills with me everywhere I go and the minute it gets too tough, I’m gonna take the pills and I’m gonna end it.”
Her migraine headaches had been severe. It had been so bad that she had to be in a dark room for sometimes 48 hours at a time. It was affecting her relationship with her spouse and her children. Sometimes, the cause of a migraine headache is actually a subluxation. A subluxation is a spinal misalignment that can interfere with nerve function in the back of the skull at the top of the neck. And when nerves are pressed back there, it can affect blood flow to the brain. It can cause abnormal dilation or constriction of blood vessels, which will cause the pain of a migraine. If you’ve had migraines, you know that you’ll start on one drug and your body will develop a tolerance and then you have to go to a stronger drug and a stronger drug, and eventually, they stop working.
Now if the cause of your migraine is spinal misalignment, well, then chiropractic is the only way to help you.
