One of the leading sources of head and neck trauma is bicycle accidents. The use of helmets does reduce head injuries, but unfortunately does little to protect the delicate cervical spine.

Playground equipment (slides, swings, monkey bars, etc.) is responsible for 118,000 accident-related injuries a year to children. The majority of injuries will be due to falls, with half resulting in head and cervical trauma.
